Rush of adrenaline on the toboggan run in Kronach

The "Fröschbrunna Coaster" in the Upper Franconian town of Kronach is a toboggan ride that is fun for both young and old.

One of the most popular attractions in Kronach is located right in front of the town gates. After your comfortable journey with the train, a pleasant 30-minute stroll will take you to the summer toboggan run "Fröschbrunna Coaster" valley station. Here you can fly like the wind all year round, gliding safely along the tracks and at full pelt, down into the valley (1x ride for EUR 2.50, 6x rides for EUR 10). Everyone controls their own speed – depending on their mood and how fearless they are – with just a gentle tug on the brakes.

At the bottom of the toboggan run you'll find Gasthaus Fröschbrunna, a restaurant with a cosy beer garden. It serves a range of hearty dishes, including home-bred organic chicken (EUR 12.50). It's a place where parents can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet while their children use up the last of their rides on the Fröschbrunna Coaster. The restaurant also has two pet lamas, which are guaranteed to delight your little ones and keep them fully entertained until the food arrives.

Kronach is also a popular destination for art lovers. The most well-known historical figure from this Franconian Forest town is Lucas Cranach, who was one of the most important painters from the Renaissance era. If you fancy a spot of culture after tobogganing, then a visit to the Rosenberg Fortress is a must (entry EUR 9). It towers high above the town. You can't miss it! It houses some of Cranach's artwork, which you can admire in the Franconian Gallery.

Directions: Take the train to Kronach station. From here, it's just a 25-minute walk along the river Haßlach to get to the summer toboggan run. After leaving the station, turn right down "Alte Bamberger Straße", then turn left and cross the bridge over the Haßlach. Turn right again and keep following the river until you reach the B303. After around 100 metres turn right onto the B85. Follow this road for a while, until you reach "Fröschbrunn" street, which branches off to the left. The toboggan run is on the right-hand side of this road.
